Welcome to Vienna for the first TRAM World Championship!

On September 13, 2025, Wiener Linien will host the world's top tram drivers in the Austrian capital for the inaugural Tramdriver World Championship.

From the European Championship to the World Championship

Since 2012, the "European Tram Championships," the official European tram drivers' championships, have been held annually, inspiring thousands of people. Each year, a different transport company from a European city with a tram network hosts the event.

Vienna hosted the European Tram Championships in 2015. Now, ten years later, Wiener Linien is organizing the first Tramdriver World Championship, the official world championship for tram drivers, in Vienna. For the first time, teams from outside Europe will also be able to participate.

Public transport is the preferred mode of travel for Viennese residents, who complete about a third of their journeys by tram, bus, or underground.
