Austria wins the Tramdriver World Championship 2025 in Vienna

The first Tramdriver World Championship has been decided: the world champions come from Vienna, Austria. Drivers Elisabeth Urbanitsch and Florijan Isaku prevailed against 24 other teams around Vienna’s Ring in eight disciplines. Second place went to drivers Monika Bocian and Dariusz Graj from Poland, while Ingrid Nansve and Ole Marius Fossen secured third place on the podium for Norway. In front of tens of thousands of spectators, all teams were cheered on, and the winners were duly celebrated.

“Congratulations to our top team from Wiener Linien – that was an impressive performance by Elisabeth and Florijan! As the public transport capital, we made history as the host of this TRAM World Championship. Vienna stands for innovation, sustainability, and quality of life, and today we proved that with an outstanding showcase on Rathausplatz,” said Alexandra Reinagl, CEO of Wiener Linien, delighted.

The competition remained exciting until the very end: all 25 teams delivered outstanding performances across the eight demanding disciplines. In the end, everyone was a winner – not only in sporting terms, but also as ambassadors for climate-friendly mobility.
